Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge @ Defi Wind

The Gran Canaria Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge took place from the 5th to the 8th of May at the beach of Gruissan, France as part of the world's biggest windsurfing competition: the Defi Wind in which were participating this year 1300 competitors from 21 different nations. A total of 460 riders were enrolled for Gran Canaria Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge and another 652 windsurfers registered on GPS-Speedsurfing.com for the virtual Gran Canaria Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge.

The lack of wind was the surprise of this year because in the two previous events there had been over 50 knots of wind and more. In this situation the organization reacted with a complete plan of activities such as exhibitions, concerts, interviews and mega autograph sessions. A complete exhibition on the beach with more than 15 companies from the windsurfing industry offered the public an opportunity to see and test the latest novelties on the windsurfing market.

Thanks to the GPS technology the Gran Canaria Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge competitors could move to other spots in the area with some wind get some results.
