Dear all,

Another event, and a great result. On Sunday at 10.50 27 sailors started for the ROUND-AROUND-TEXEL.I had a great start and could round the North of the island in 3rd position. On the east-side of the island it got very tricky and tactical due to the wind dropping, the tide and the strong current. All riders had a GPS-tracker so their position was known at all times. (I was nbr. 20 – see picture)It was in 2008 that I last sailed on a Formula board, and was very happy I could borrow one from Twan Verseput as on my slalom-boardthe conditions were unsuitable. We had between 11-20 knots of wind. I used the Reflex7 9.2 and was at times underpowered and than again overpowered. The Round around the island of Texel is approximately 100 km and it took me 2 Hours and 31 minutes to finish just in front of Dennis Littel (2.32) in second and 3rd Adriaan van Rijsselberghe (2.42). It was a great battle until the very end. Only 17 participants out of the 27 reached the finish-line.

Last year I participated also but the outhaul-line broke and got “rescued” from the water some 45 minutes before the finish-line.A good comeback.I’m not only the winner of the Round around Texel but also the titel Dutch Champion Marathon Windsurfing. A good feeling and I’m super happy !!

At the moment packed and ready to catch the early-morning flight to Lanzarote to get back on the freestyle-equipment. My first session is already planned for tomorrow afternoon. Can’t wait !!

Best regards
