The third international Danish Surf & Beach race took place from the 16th-17th of August and the beaches around Cold Hawaii delivered all there goods. German Fanatic rider Paulina Herpel finished second in Waves, “Polarbear” Christian Anderson gets best Junior in Waves and Race with a 5th place in the mens Wave and Race division in his home town. Mads Ring get`s 3rd in the Race Devision. With Paulina only 16 years and Christian just 14 years old, Fanatic had the youngest team by far in this contest. Both youngsters showed that they have already what it needs to challenge the rest of the field of 30 men and 10 girls. The beaches around Cold Hawaii were on fire for the whole weekend. It started on Saturday with an epic Downwind Race from the long jetty in Hanstholm to the bunkers in Vigsø. 3 Meter Waves and howling westerly wind op to 34km/h prepared the right setting. The great Viking Casper Steinfath get the victory in front of his younger brother Peter who chooses a risky line not far from the beach but managed to sneak some really big rollers to his favour. Third place went to Danish rider Mads Ring on his 14” Fanatic Falcon. Close to the last 500 meters Paulina was in second place but the ultra strong current in Vigsø swept her down the beach so she missed out some places and ended on 5th. Same mistake happened for Christian who lost at least one place while running up the beach to the final gate. On Sunday the wind kicked back in, but luckily less waves – perfect conditions to start the Wave contest in the bay of Klitmøller. Christian missed the final by little points but wowed the crowds more than ones. In the girls final Paulina only had to pass Annette Carsing the reigning Danish wave champ. Well done Paulina & Christian & thanks to Casper Steinfath and his friends as there are also a vital part in the organisation of this great event.
