- Baja
Am I loosing the plot, crawled out of my tent at 5am to watch the sun coming over the mountain before heading to the water with a SUP board. To be honest I thought my camping days were over and as for the SUP boards, well lets just say I tried it but didnāt understand what all the fuss was about, why paddle when a rig will do.
- Complete
The mast mount is finally finished and with Guy Cribb racing the Extreme 40ās on the Isle of Wight it could have proved an ideal opportunity to try it out. Weāll its not often that something breaks me but the forecast changed to ensure there was no wind for the allotted race time, yet enough to ensure I was frustrated when stuck on the shore with nothing to shoot or sail.
- Mast Mount
Weāve been testing a second version of our mast mount and while it looked all good to go, the last day in Vass provided the perfect conditions for testing its durability and stability on the mast. Itās worked out even better than the first one and now we have the clamps worked out it doesnāt slip on the mast yet can still rotate with the sail.
- Back in the Club
No mater how many times I go back to Vassiliki it has that familiarity of home while offering a new experience every time. We the numbers increasing every year at speed week and the extra friends from home joining me I think next year will be for two weeks with the family joining me for the second week, though the boys are already calming theyāre coming out for both.
- Summer Sailing
Itās always nice to get a bit of a suntan going but Iād take a rainy summer anytime so long as it was windy, fortunately we didnāt have to forgo the tan when the wind kicked in this week. With the whole country firing it would have been a perfect opportunity to head off and find another story for my āHome Groundā in boards, but bigger things were calling.
- Clone
Never wanted to be bigger than I am, but more than I am wouldnāt go amiss, would make all the travelling a lot easier, let alone the writing. Updates here have been a bit on the slow side the last couple of weeks but with every day in the car it takes another two before I get my inbox cleared, if only I could get my dictation software to understand me.
- Finally
After such a long wind drought it was no wonder the country turned out in such numbers, I headed for the BSA slalom even at Hove but from all the calls and emails I had it seems that anyone with a board headed for the water. Iāll confess to only staying until lunchtime before heading off to find stronger winds, keep saying it, Iāll never make an event photographer.
- Wake Up Call
Pointing the finger at our World Cup team would be too easy, though it did put a dampener on our WC barbeque; the truth is I had a wakeup call on my own. Blame it on the lack of wind or too many hours behind the desk but I was out on what has become an all to rare bike ride when I got over taken.
- Running
The magazine doesnāt stop but guess I could also be accused of running away, or at least keeping busy. In fairness I didnāt arrange everything, Jason and Levi dropped into the UK the end their European tour, though I was expecting a trip to Cornwall rather than spending a few hours in Southend with Wet ānā Dry before heading into London for a few drinks.
- R.I.P
Iām not sure sorrow and pride sit so well but no matter how much it hurts to loose my Dad, heās left us a legacy to be proud of and while Iād give anything for another day, I wouldnāt turn back the clock for a second as every moment gained would be a memory lost. Tomorrow will be the hardest day of my life but I hope it will be a celebration of his.
thought I recognised a posing speed stance and some 'monkeying' around on you tube and checked your sail number to confirm - it's the ROVER sponsored event 1991 I think - but where? West Kirby?

Unlike yerself, I'm a one beach sailor near Turnberry (golf) and 90's gear is modern for me - but am bringing 9 yr old twins into the sport - their stuff is better than mine! Any recommendations for European locations? - on a limited budget - but hey - how do you put a value on getting hooked in to watersports?
Of course, Tiree isn't that far from Glasgow!!! but would have to somehow convince the brains of the Decision Making Unit (Suzanne) that Aquatica and Waterworld are a poor second to the real world, ha
