YOUR SAILING WORLD

• IN FEW WORDS YOUR FIRST SESSIONS/ YOUR BEGINNING: I started Windsurfing with 14 years at the Italian Adriatic coast. I tried two years earlier, but I was not able to pull up the huge triangle sail they had there at the surf station and I felt really sad and angry. But then, two years later, my father bought a Mistral Maui and a 4.0 Gaastra Eurofoil which was perfect for me to start. Okay, I was not able to carry the board alone, but on the water I was a hero!
• WHICH DISCIPLINE DO YOU PRACTISE, ONLY SPEED? ARE U COMPETING AS WELL? I’m competing in Slalom, Formula and Speed. I’m doing the whole Swiss Windsurfing Tour, which is quite nice with up to 14 competitions a year, and some international competitions like for example the famous Défi Wind.
• HOW OFTEN DO U SAIL? FAVOURITE SPOT? TRIP? I sail every week from april to november, most of the time in Switzerland. As we have many lakes between mountains, we have winds form every direction. So, if we want we can windsurf almost everyday in Switzerland. A lot of times I’m surfing on the lake Garda. 2-3 times a year I join some waves in Sardinia, France, Gran Canaria or Western Australia.
• WHICH EQUIPMENT DO U USE FOR SPEED? I use the Loftsails Speed Blades and of course my brother Patriks famous Speed boards.
• WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS AND YOUR WEAKNESSES? My strength is to focus on something. If I want to achieve a goal, I do everything for it! And the most of the time I do it!   My weakness is for sure that I’m not good in saying NO. I’m a world champion in filling up my schedule and in doing too much tasks in the same time! And, so a lot of people are saying, may be I like talking a lot..! 
• WHAT ARE YOUR MOTIVATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS FOR LUDERITZ SPEED CHALLENGE 2014? As I did 47 kts on 500m last year I want to do the 48 kts this time and at least the 50 kts in topspeed. And by the way having again a nice trip and a lot of fun with all the nice people there having the same crazy goals that I have!
• HOW FAST DO U THINK A WINDSURFER CAN GO? It depends a lot what shapers and sail designers will approve in the next years… may be 55 kts…
