STEVEN VAN BROECKHOVENB-72 had the best possible start into the new season by defeating both Freestyle World Champions of the last two years on day 3 of the event. In the single elimination Steven Van Broeckhoven beat Tesa, his team mate Yentel Caers, Scheffers, Thode and Estredo. In the final the Belgian showed an explosive one-handed air funnel 360 before adding a high culo, a powerful air bob to take the victory.Steven Van Broeckhoven wins and states:“I’m really happy, I didn’t expect to win today, but it’s great to have a result already and hopefully we can get through the double tomorrow.”

In the double elimination Steven Van Broeckhoven B-72 held his nerve to successfully fend off the challenge of Estredo in the final for the second time. In a tight heat it was Steven’s consistency that made the difference!

AMADO VRIESIJKAmado just survived a very tough heat against his team mate Sam Esteve. Stronger and more confident he successfully battled all the way to fight for the podium in the single elimination but in the end closely missed it.He wowed the crowds and the judges with outstanding moves like his trade mark air kabikuchis. YENTEL CAERSBEL-16 earned a lot of respect after breaking into the top ten for the first time in his career by finishing ninth. Yentel showed a solid top-performance throughout all his heats and only could be stopped by the later winner in the single elimination.

2 French riders deserve a mention for their performance:

JULIEN MASF-7 sailed very well in his heats, but it was the tow-in qualification where he really impressed the audience on the beach. By claiming the highest score he won the qualification and got the crowds to cheer for him!

SAM ESTEVEF-79 made an impressive start to his debut on the PWA World Tour. Sam not only knocked out one of his opponents but gave the current PWA Youth Freestyle World Champion Amado Vrieswijk a tough run for his money. Sam pulled off clean burners, ponches and an amazing air skopu and he certainly looks like one to watch.

CONGRATULATIONS to all our riders!
