The Butterfly Effect landed in Cabarete on July 30, 2011. This year’s event, the 3rd annual, saw its largest increase in participants registering 80 waterwomen from all over the world. Local and visiting women gathered on the beach of Cabarete to complete a 4km downwind ride from Cabarete Bay to Playa Encuentro. The event was open to women who windsurf, kitesurf, stand up paddle(SUP) or kayak. The waterwomen of Cabarete united their individual athletic abilities to celebrate their accomplishments as a united group. Over the course of the event many other girls and women were inspired to get out on the ocean and try some of the sports for the first time. The event included a beach cleanup, safety and stretching sessions, as well as food and gear from local sponsors. All of Cabarete and many from Santiago and Santo Domingo came out to pack the house at the Nikki Beach Cabarete after party. A raffle, silent and live auctions were held, and the Butterfly Effect Dominican Republic surpassed last year’s efforts raising $3000.00 USD for The DREAM Project.

Another year, another video. Same spots, new action. South Africa, Maui and Morocco were insane this year and hopefully this collection of clips will show that. There are also some extras from our trip to Namibia throw in. Enjoy.

You'll have to excuse how random all the clips are ... I got my 7D stolen a short while ago so I had to borrow the clips shot on a friend's 7D so most of the footage is not mine (I just shot most of the girl clips).

We shot the ENTIRE video completely handheld with a Sigma 120-400mm lens as the plates for my Manfrotto tripod also got stolen so I have no tripod and actually that was the only lens we had! As a result all the footage is pretty shaaaaaaakey and not so good on the closeups!! Sorry about that. I highly recommend never shooting handheld with a 400mm!
