Browne snatches victory from the claws of Stillrich in Super Session Finale

The day after finishing both the single and the double elimination there was still some wind in Klitmøller. The riders did everything they could to milk every last bit of it in the super session of the KIA Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup 2015. The super session consisted of 3 qualifying heats with the winner of each heat advancing into the final as well as one lucky loser — the highest second placed finisher. Each sailor was given 18 minutes to produce their best jump or wave move in order to advance.

I want to share my adventures with you with some small clips - here no. #1 Yesterday night I arrived in Malaga/Spain for the upcoming GunSails Photoshooting 2016. Had some troubles with the rental car station and with my hotel. But at the end I made it to windy Tarifa. In the afternoon I scored a nice session with 4.4 in Punta Paloma together with my friend Maria Andres from Spain. The forecast looks great for the next days, so we will keep our way to the best spots around Tarifa. Looking forward :-) Powered by: Gun Sails, Starboard, Maui Ultra Fins, Prolimit, Björn Borg, Oakley Hamburg filmed with iPhone 6, Panasonic GH4

Philip Köster became the King of Cold Hawaii for 2015

The sailors patience may have been tested in the opening four days, but their patience was more than rewarded today as Cold Hawaii maintained it’s 100% record in epic fashion. Not only was the single elimination completed, but also the double as Klitmøller reinstated its reputation as Cold Hawaii with wall-to-wall sunshine, frothy North Sea nuggets and howling winds. By the end of an enthralling day it was Philip Köster (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins), who fought his way to the top of the podium as he remained unbeaten after defeating Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing / MFC) in the single elimination — followed by Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North / MFC) in the double, which takes the two-time world champion to the top of the overall rankings, with his second victory of the year. However, there was several fascinating battles throughout the day with big upsets and epic comebacks, which really made the today one to remember.

The main event begins in Cold Hawaii

After a slow start in the morning the waves quickly improved once the wind swung slightly to the west and for a while the conditions were excellent with head high waves and cross to cross-off winds. Unfortunately though the conditions didn’t last and despite everyones best efforts it was only possible to complete two heats in the main draw. The most important thing is that we are up and running - and it looks as if there is wind most of the day tomorrow. Here are today's action - enjoy!

In Cold Hawaii we don’t argue with a pointing pipe

What is Klitmøller and Cold Hawaii all about? How did it come about - and who are they? It’s hard to explain and there are certainly many angles to that story, but that shouldn’t keep us from trying. That’s exactly what we’ve done. Here it is - you can’t argue with a pointing pipe. Enjoy.

Sharing waves in Cold Hawaii

SUP Professional Casper Steinfath talks about his deep love for his home. As expected, day three of the KIA Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup proved to be another lay day in Denmark, with light offshore winds and small waves on the event site keeping the competitors on hold as the waiting game continues. But just 30 kilometers down the coast in Agger, sizeable waves hit the Danish Coastline. The perfect playground for SUP Pro Casper Steinfath, a Klitmøller local and Belgian PWA sailor Dieter van der Eyken to share some waves. Tomorrow the latest weather forcast predicts strong sideshore winds for the PWA competitors. So for sure… more waves to share in Cold Hawaii!

Tension builds in Cold Hawaii

After a quiet first day the attention now turns towards tomorrow, which holds plenty of promise with the forecast predicting wind from first light tomorrow - with this in mind the skippers’ meeting has been called for 7:30am with the first possible start for the trials at 8am. The latest forecast model shows the wind coming through from the SSW for a time, which should quickly generate a wave and waves of almost 2 metres are being predicted for tomorrow, so we are hopeful of an exciting day of action.

Gearing up for world class windsurfing in Cold Hawaii

The KIA Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup 2015 media team is once again looking forward to working with the media in Klitmøller. We hope you’ll enjoy this years event. The German prodigy, Philip Köster, was crowned the World Champion in Cold Hawaii two times (2011 and 2012). With two titles to his name (2012 and 2014), Frenchman Thomas Traversa is the only man who has managed to conquer the North Sea more than once. Things haven’t gone quite his way so far this season. Nevertheless, Traversa will be a huge threat again and could quite possibly derail the title challenge of either Victor Fernandez - who currently leads the 2015 PWA Wave World Tour - or Philip Köster, who sits just behind Fernandez in second place. That said, so far this season the level has been incredibly high. In reality, almost anyone can beat anyone in any given heat, so it really does promise to be another intriguing battle. One thing is for sure, though: In the end, the best man will win the title in Cold Hawaii.
