Antoine Albeau: the fastest windsurfer on Earth

The French windsurfer is constantly raising the bar in the fastest speed strip in the world. Albeau is only 2.30 knots away from the 100 km/h mark (53.99 knots).

The truth is that everyone is going very fast in Luderitz. Almost all national records have been broken and the 50-knot mark is being crossed by many international windsurfers.

Anders Bringdal, the first windsurfer to speed up to the 50 knots, trails very closely behind Albeau with a best speed record of 51.34 knots, which is the new Swedish and Production Board record.

The 2012 Luderitz Speed Challenge is already hailed as the best year ever for the speed windsurfing community. Windsurfers have narrowed the speed difference for kiteboarders. Rob Douglas, the fastest kiteboarder in the world, has raced at 55.65 knots.

The world speed sailing record is owned by Peter Larsen and his Vestas Sailrocket 2, with an incredible mark of 59.23 knots.
