Once again I’m back at one of my favourite places in the world, Cape Town South Africa. I’ve been here since beginning of December, and this year it’s really delivered some great conditions. The first 3 weeks of December we almost sailed every day, and most of the time we had some decent swell along with the wind. Around Christmas the wind went away for a week, which wasn’t to bad for me as my girlfriend came down for a month visit.
January has been lees windy then December so far, but when we had wind I have been stacked on my smallest sails most of the time. So all in all it’s been a great season so far. I’m staying here with Sam Neal and Jamie Hancock. Sam is a young talent from the UK and Jamie who also is from UK, is the one I normally travel the year with around the PWA tour. Jamie is a really good training partner as he absolutely rips in the waves.
PLASMA team boss Robert Sand also stayed down here for a month with his wife and kid. It’s always great to sail with Rob as he was the one who helped me to become a pro windsurfer, so he always pushes me to do better on the water. My girlfriend, who usually stays here the whole season with me like the last few years, came down for a month to visit me. She is studying to become a personal trainer and strength coach so she could only get away for a month this year. So on the days with no wind she has been pushing me in the gym, to keep my fitness level up.
We also did some of all the tourist stuff that is mandatory when your girlfriend is here. Although we both seen most of the stuff worth seeing down here, we still manage to experience some new things.
I’m staying until beginning of March so looking forward to some more wind and waves.
All the best,
Kenneth Danielsen
