Antoine Albeau: speed is in his veins

The eternal battle between windsurfers and kiteboarders, in speed arena, is gearing up for the 2013 season. In Leucate, some of the best speed sailors trained three days, with the cold and northern wind of Tramontana.

The head-to-head disputes for speed saw three riders, from each sport, sailing by the sandy beach of Leucate. Antoine Albeau, Cyril Moussilmani and Pierre Mortefon competing in windsurfing and Rob Douglas, Alex Caizergues and Damien Leroy riding for the kiteboarding team.

Seven races were run with winds ranging from 30 to 50 knots. Cyril Moussilmani hasn't been speed windsurfing for two years now, but he managed to win a race and get a nice 40.90 knots average speed, on his best run.

In the end, Antoine Albeau was able to beat Rob Douglas' 44.61 knots, to secure first place at the Sosh Speed Cup 2013. Kiteboarders will definitely go for a revenge clash, in the near future speed sailing venues.
