How was Sylt for you?

Sylt was pretty cold this year and a lot of waiting going on. The first days I went up South with Amado to do some free sailing sessions which where amazing and a lot of fun. And than the competition started with offshore winds and really cold temperatures. In the end I finished 5th with 2 times losing very closely against the Golitto and Kiri so also happy in the end I could get my 5th place overall!

Best moment of 2013?

So many but probably getting 5th in Fuerteventura after sailing some of my best heats ever!

What are your plans for this winter?

This winter I will go to Western-Australia for 2,5 months together with my girlfriend, here I will be doing testing of the new Freek for next year and prepare myself for next season! After this I will be just a week or 2 at home before I leave to Bonaire for 2 months. From here I will fly to El Yaque for the first world cup!

How was Sylt for you?

Sylt was bitter cold but again a super event. I had some great sessions on the other side of the island with Dieter to warm up before the freestyle competition started. I'm very satisfied with the result, 9th place in Sylt and 11th overall. Becoming the PWA Youth Freestyle World Champion 2013 feels great and pushes me to let the freestyle world see a lot more of me the next season.

Best moment of 2013?

My best moment this year was in Poderdorf. After ending 2012 on the 27th spot, it felt amazing to place myself in 9th place at the first PWA-event of 2013.

What are your plans for this winter?

This winter I stay on Bonaire. Here I have the perfect conditions to train and besides that I have to attend school. But when there comes a good opportunity or an interesting event I for sure will go !!

How was Sylt for you?

The PWA competition at Sylt didn’t go as well as I hoped before the event!
But I had a good competition and a lot of fun. I know I can reach the top 10! In the single elimination I ended 9th, but in the double elimination I dropped to 17th. I had hoped for a better result in the double elimination but in the end I'm 18th in the overall ranking so for me this is great!

Best moment of 2013?

My favourite moment of this season was for sure in Fuerteventura. It was my first time I got in the top ten after a single and a double elimination! At the end of the competition I ended 13th overall. That’s the best result I have ever had on the PWA Tour. I hope to get some more of these good results next year!

What are your plans for this winter?

This winter season I have to do a lot of schoolwork because I have to pass my exams. After that I will go to a warm place with a lot of wind this winter to train again for the upcoming season! The remaining time I will be on the water at Brouwersdam, as much as possible.
