It has been quite a while since my last update. The simple reason is that I have been recovering from a broken leg which unfortunately happened the week after finishing 9th at the first PWA competition of the year in Tenerife. It was horrible to go from my best ever start to a competitive year within the worlds top 10 straight to 2-3 months recovery. It meant I missed the final events of the year and finishing with a terrible overall ranking.
The positive is that I have had the chance to spend time at home and also to focus a bit on the video side of things. I edited a video from my time in Tenerife and another from a trip to the isle of Lewis earlier in the year. Then in October I travelled to the final British event of the year to video my team mates Ross and Phil in the hope that one of them would win the overall British title, which Phil did, and made a nice video of that. I also went on a day trip over to the isle of wight with my camera gear, by this time I was back on the water, and filmed Ross before going for a windsurf myself. And recently I have edited another video from a trip I did to Thurso with JC. The Thurso video won’t be online until the new year however until the photos have been in the magazines. Oh, and I also went on a day trip with Timo just to film him of which his brother edited a short video called ‘Yorkshire Pudding.’

As for my injury, I am now able to run and do most things again. I broke my lower fibula from going over on my ankle. During my time in plaster I also developed a DVT which is a blood clot in the veins from lack of movement. So i’ve been on blood thinning drugs for a while and have been able to be back in the gym and nearing recovery. I’ve not been able to jump so far with windsurfing and have a support for my ankle, but it is still quite painful despite the bone successfully fusing together correctly.
So right now i’m gearing up for Cape Town where after all this time off the water I hope to start again and build myself back up to competition level once again. Safe to say I cannot wait!
