Another windy weekend, amazing! 20+mph and head high waves for both days in North Yorkshire. Great weather too, even managed to sail with bare feet! -Bonkers for the NE in March!!

On the downside it was crazy gusty and the waves were very closely spaced (if that makes you feel better), but everybody made a good fist of it with a bit of sail tweaking and board swapping. Great weekend with a great bunch of keen sailors. Thanks to Geoff Hautman for the extra pics.

Some great pics of the sailing here Flickr2

Actually great to have the KS3's for this kind of sailing as they have a massive wind range. And now I've got a big board (88ltr) I keep finding myself on that all the time too! Not only is it good for the gusty 'need quick spurts of speed to hit ramps' kind of days, it's also pretty good at the 'landing airs into logo high water water without being engulfed' kinda days too. Guess it's taken me a while to come round to the 'big boards work these days' thinking that everyone else has been saying. Though I think it being 5.9kg helps! Sailed it with 12 Ezzy fronts (1.3 boxes + 1 degree toe) and a 16 Stubby rear tri. On the grippier tailed 85 I can go 12f/14r but that ends up being pretty skatey on the wider 88.
