Easter Promise…….. or not?
Posted on 22 April, 2014 Neil Greentree
So we were ready for some excellent sailing around the Norfolk coast over Easter. With a good forecast for both Friday and Sunday things were set to be rather tasty. I was due to travel to Cornwall to compete in the BSA racing series but decided to cancel as the forecast looked iffy and the local forecast was looking really good.
So early Friday we set off (6.00AM) to go to Wells and we were met by a huge tide and a cold but firm 20mph wind. It was again lovely sailing along the Holkham Beach jumping off the rolling waves – its lovely coz you are about 20ft away from the tourists walking along the beach…….. so photo city!!!!! (yeah, I know…..I’m vain!)
Sunday was really looking good with a NE 25-35mph wind and a lot of locals heading up for their first sail of 2014. Sadly the wind didn’t play ball and it was probably the worst sail I’ve had in a long time at Wells. One good thing was seeing Michelle Perry having a ball with Jeff on his kit in the bay. I took this picture the other day when she came up to sail and borrowed my Fanatic Geko 105 to use……. sorry Paul, I know its a Fanatic!!!! Lol
Down at Marazion, Team Rider Richard Hobson was racing in the Pro fleet for the first time and smashed in some awesome results on the Saturday. Sadly a school boy error (his words) meant his excellent results were tarnished with penalty point for not taking out a safety tally – but for his first Pro Race event 15th seems like a good start.
So all in all, a good sail and a crap sail……… its a funny old game this windsurfing!!!
