Business as usual!

You’ve probably all heard the announcement from ISAF announcing that Windsurfing will be replaced by Kiteboarding in the 2016 Olympic Sailing Events.

Whilst this has totally shocked the windsurfing community, including the Team15 office, the message for all Team15 clubs and sailors is ‘business as usual’ and lets go out and enjoy our windsurfing.

This year is going to be an exciting one, especially with Weymouth hosting the Olympic sailing event, so here at Team15, we are encouraging as many sailors and clubs as possible to participate in this year’s inter-club series.

The programme is supported by over 70 Team15 clubs around the country who do a fantastic job in providing opportunities for local children to learn to windsurf and to participate regularly. We encourage clubs to nurture windsurfing skills of all descriptions, providing youngsters with a good foundation in the sport and allowing them to take their windsurfing in whichever direction they want.

Supporting the role of Team15, RYA CEO Sarah Treseder has said: “It is not yet clear what role Team15 will play in the broader kiteboarding pathway, but as these developments progress, Team15 will undoubtedly remain a fundamental area of RYA activity”.

With regard to Inter-Club events I am delighted to announce that we expect around 50 Team15 clubs from a far afield as Cornwall and Scotland to be battling it out on the water for a place in the 2012 Team15 Champions Cup Final this October.

We expect to see lots of new faces having lots of fun, more nail biting finishes and even more exceptional talent.

Wishing you all a fun year on the water with Team15.
