MICRO GUIDE – PAROS, GREECE

Windsurfers will be spoilt for choice as Paros offer two windsurfing beaches;: Golden Beach (South – East ) is a long, golden sandy beach extending for 700m, famous amongst windsurfers for its ideal conditions and NEW Golden Beach (North-East) which is the windiest spot on the island.

Season: April to October

Why Go?: Every year many windsurfers flock to Paros due to the steady Meltemi winds that blow throughout the summer. The wind direction – usually north and side-shore from the left – combined with an angled wave, creates ideal jumping conditions.

Wind Factor: Paros has 4 to 5 windy days per week all year round. The wind is always constant, from 12 to 35 knots, usually blowing from the north.

Riding on Offer: Bump and jump, Freestyle and Slalom.

Flight Factor: It’s most likely that you’ll land at Eleutherios Venizelos international airport in Athens. From there you have two options. The best is to book a domestic flight from Eleutherios Venizelos to Paros airport in advance. If on the other hand you wish to spend some time in Athens for sightseeing, you can get to Paros by boat.

Where to Stay: The best choices are at:

Paros LOURIDIS studios with direct views to the famous “Drionisi Island’’ the trademark of Golden Beach. “Louridis studios” are also built in the traditional architecture of The Cyclades, all with fully equipped kitchenette, refrigerator and private bathroom with shower.

“Louridis studios” are right behind the windsurfing centre. The complex consists of 10 studios and 5 rooms. The place also offers a restaurant with Greek and Italian traditional food. The familiar atmosphere makes you feel like at home and gives you a real taste of Greek hospitality.

Hotel Paros Philoxenia is also situated on New Golden Beach and among its amenities offers a restaurant and swimming pool bar, where you can cool off with one of our cocktails under the sun and enjoy the majestic view of the sea.

“Paros Philoxenia” bungalows were built and furnished in the traditional Cyclades architectural style, blending perfectly with the landscape. The independent living quarters were fully renovated in 2008 and are just right on the beach.
