The 2014 American Windsurfing Tour is moving rapidly towards the end of the season. The last event will be held in Maui, Hawaii, and three riders - Levi Siver, Kevin Pritchard and Morgan Noireaux - can claim the overall title.
In the last day of competition at Cape Hatteras, the Pro fleet was sent to a backup site where strong winds had kicked up a really good wind swell just up the coast near the lighthouse.
The six pro windsurfers were seeded into two three-man heats, with the top two riders advancing in a single elimination format. In the first clash, Morgan Noireaux proved to be stronger than Russ Faurot and the local hero Andy McKinney.
In the other semifinal, Kevin Pritchard, Ferdinando Loffreda, and Keith McCulloch battled for two spots in the decisive heat. Pritchard and Loffreda prevailed.
The final saw Noireaux and Pritchard showing why they're the top names in the American Windsurfing Tour. Pritchard picked the best waves and ripped them flawlessly, linking multiple backside turns, with clean down the line wraps, and critical hits right in the pocket time.
"Super stoked to win in Cape Hatteras. It has been a great year with some great events around the world. Some of the best things about doing the AWT events is meeting new people and seeing old friends. Thanks to everyone that made it possible," expressed Kevin Pritchard.
The last event of the 2014 American Windsurfing Tour is the Aloha Classic, to be run in Maui, Hawaii, between 29th October and 11th November.
