After the success of last year's "Old Guns" clinic, Roberto Hoffman decided to throw another one towards the end of August. Read his quick report and join the next one!

"At the end of August, the now legendary Old Guns clinic was held with Rob Hofmann in Torbole, Lake Garda. A total of twelve participants met on Friday morning at the Windsurfing Centre to start off with a few hours of theory. Then, at about twelve o'clock, the sky cleared and a beautiful sun allowed all participants to take a ride with the SUP around the lake. On the way back, we were pushed by a light south wind, Ora, and we rushed back to prepare the equipment for a good hour of planing and jibing. In the evening, we all went together for a big Italian meal to have some energy for the next day!
Next day, the meeting is held at 11 AM, but due to the rain, we cannot sail and use the time to go through another session of theory work... and then, around 1 PM, the sky cleared up again and the wind kicked in from the North. I then had the brilliant idea to make a mega downwind, all the way to Malcesine.
The idea is well received by all of my students. With sails sizes around 6.5m² and up to 7.5m², we start from the Conca d'Oro with light wind. The wind kept getting stronger and stronger as we headed to the south. After 15 minutes, everybody was fully planing for 35 km of downwind pleasure! I was equipped with a radio and I kept in touch with the Center to arrange for a shuttle to take us back to Torbole. We all arrived in Malcesine after two hours of downwind... And it truly was a wonderful experience for everyone!"

"We met again on Sunday at 8 AM to go windsurfing with the North wind... And the Peler didn't let us down...! We are blessed with 20 to 25 knots of consistent wind, making this the perfect learning ground for jibing. I went out with my iSonic 107 Carbon and a 7.8m², which was a bit too big! I made runs up to 34 knots on this very flat side of the lake... It was a real pleasure to sail in these conditions!
Around 2 PM, the wind shifted to the south and blew at about 15 knots but almost all of my students were out of energy. Regardless, we went out for another session. After all, we are the Old Guns!! And every one went home with a wonderful memory of the “Old Guns” Clinic as all participants were able to improve their technique in a very friendly environment! See you in 2015 for my next clinic!!"
