Tricky Wales

Today I headed to one to one of the best sailing and surfing reefs in South Wales – one of my favourite spots but somewhere I haven't sailed for quite a while. Usually it is an easy place for sail, despite the abundance of ledges and boulders and an almost complete absence of sand. Though it is not a spot for those who like easy launches nor for those with delicate boards.
Today the wind was very cross off . And despite starting starting at 4.7  strength, whistling off the ledges and boulders it died to float and ride conditions, and then gradually increasied again towards the end of the day. As always the best waves popped up as the tide pushed and Deej and Adam put on a master class in waveriding.

By the time I had taken these photos the most people had packed up having enjoyed a short, much windier  session in the morning. I didn't make the most of the  session with two rig changes. Nevertheless it was fun whilst it lasted and I love sailing with the crew here.
I managed to snap a few of them carving up the brown waves of Wales. Great to share this place with David, Dan, Gethin, the twins, Adam and Deej. And of course, new local, James.
