Chris Pressler: 2015 Austrian Slalom Master Champion

The WSA (Windsurfing Austria) held the 2015 Austrian Nationals last weekend at the Austrian Sailing Center in Lake Neusiedl, near Podersdorf. The wind was great on Saturday and allowed the crew to run eight full rounds of downwind racing in chilly conditions. The competitors didn't care much about the cold wind and enjoyed the good speed at the beginning of the season, after which a few champions were crowned, including Chris Pressler who won the Masters' Division. Read his report below.

"We had 15 to 25 knots of wind from the northern direction, with heavy rain squalls in between. It was tricky to choose the right gear. I crashed and broke my Reflex 8.6m² during the first round and then needed to play it safe to guarantee myself a podium ranking.

The wind picked up and had three nice races with the fantastic 2015 iSonic 107 Carbon and Reflex 7.8m². During the following four races, I fought hard and managed to preserve my 2nd place overall, overpowered on my 2015 iSonic 120 and Reflex 9.0m².

Big congratulations to Marco Lang who won this fantastic event. It really paid off to run the Austrian Nationals during April as it's the windiest month of the year at Lake Neusiedl. Now it's time to prepare for upcoming events during May and June.

And let's hope for a lot of wind, action and fun during the next event at Podersdorf, Lake Traun or Lake Waller. The Austrian scene is alive!"
