PWA Fuerteventura Worldcup Freestyle | 24.7.2015 – 28.7.2015

On the third day (26.7.) of the PWA Fuerteventura Freestyle Worldcup Kiri Thode and Sarah-Quita Offringa were able to defend their single elimination victories and are the winners of the double elimination. 

Today is the fourth day of the event and the women already finished their second double elimination and the men’s 2nd single elimination is underway. At the moment the wind dropped and the competition is on hold.

The highlights so far

• The French Nicolas Akgazciyan landed a perfect Shifty and this Shifty actually was the first landed Shifty in a PWA event. Luckily we captured this move. Check it out: Shifty by Nicolas Akgazciyan
• In the 1st single elimination the Swiss Balz Müller defeated Amado Vrieswijk. Balz knew he needed a perfect heat to win and landed for example a huge Air Shaka, a clean Skopu and his trademark Chewbacca toad.
• Another upset in the 1st single elimination was caused by Yentel Caers. The Belgium freestyler defeated Gollito Estredo with a perfect heat. To be fair it has to be said, Gollito Estredo is suffering chickenpox at the moment and is not in top form. Nevertheless Yentel Caers sailed an amazing heat including a Skopu, Pasko, double Burner, a big Culo, a Pushloop and more.
• Sarah-Quita Offringa improved again and impresses the spectators and competitors as she shows a high difficulty in all her heats.

• Maaike Huvermann, who is only 17 years-old shows great consistency and is battling with Oda Johanne for place 2. 

• Dieter van der Eyken stormed through the Double Elimination and won 6 heats (actually 7 because he beat Tonky Frans twice, as they needed to resail the heat, due to a signal/timing fault) and finished the double elimination on the 2nd place. His heat against Antony Ruenes got the highest score of the whole event so far. 58.5 points out of 60. The double elimination podium finish is his best result at an PWA competition so far. • Antony Ruenes injured his right ankle during a free session. No news on his injury yet, but he is limping over the beach.
• Kiri Thode sails smart in every heat and knows what he needs to do to win. An outstanding move was a perfect high Air Kabikuchi in the winners final against Dieter van der Eyken.
• At the end of day 3 Gollito Estredo decided to stop competing, as he feels very sick as he is suffering chickenpox.
