The 2023 Freestyle Pro Tour blasted into life with a globe-trotting start to the season from Cape Towns flatwater and waves, to Bonaires freestyle mecca, the iconic Surf Opening at Lake Neusiedl, Germanys Fehmarn freestyle festival, and the tow-in fireworks of Vesoul.
Cape Town set the tone, with freestyle pros, local chargers, and even wave sailors throwing down in Rietvleis slick water and in the oceans wavy kickers. Bosson claimed the single, before Marc Paré and Pauline Katz ruled the double in dream wave conditions.
In Bonaire, the Proving Grounds format delivered chaos and upsets Lennart Neubauer stormed back from 18 months off the water, but local legend Youp Schmit kept the crown in an electric final.
Lake Neusiedl brought big fleets and big crowds. Lennart took the single, but Steven van Broeckhoven tore through the double in a legendary run only for Neubauer to stop him in the final and claim his first-ever event win.
Fehmarns German Freestyle Battles celebrated the sport with 50+ riders, wins going to Lina Erpenstein and Felix Volkhardt. Vesoul wrapped things up in style with massive tow-in sends Maaike Huvermann taking the womens and Yentel Caers dominating the mens.
From comeback stories to career-first victories, from local heroes to world champions, the first half of 2023 delivered non-stop action across continents proving once again that freestyle windsurfing never stands still.
