FPT Geneva 2023 was one for the books freestyle windsurfing right in the heart of the city! Balz Müller kicked things off with his vision for watersports in Switzerland, while the riders themselves spoke about the rapid rise of Foilstyle. Add in Genevas unique tow-in arena, and the stage was set for a spectacular showdown on Lake Geneva.
The drama started early when tour leader Yentel Caers was knocked out in the qualifiers, blowing the title race wide open. Suddenly, all eyes were on George Grisley and Foivos Tsoupras as they battled for the overall crown. The finals delivered in style: Sam Esteve dropped a perfect 10 with his one-handed burner, Maaike Huvermann pushed the limits of womens freestyle with the first-ever double air rotation, and George sealed the mens Tow-In championship in a nail-biting duel with Foivos.
The event closed with a high-flying Super Session, featuring massive moves from Foivos, Yentel, Lennart, Jamie, Lisa, and Maaike the perfect ending to one of the most unique events of the season.
Next week we dive into the Freestyle title showdown in Brouwersdam, and take a look back at the entirety of the 2023 season. Don't miss it!
